REACH directive
What does REACH mean?
"As of June 1, 2007, the EU's new REACH Regulation (1907/2006/EC) has been in force, reshaping the law regarding chemicals quite fundamentally. By adopting REACH (registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals), legislators have sought to minimize the hazards and risks associated with chemical substances and to
ensure a higher level of protection for humans and the environment."
Under REACH, the main responsibility for the management of any potential risks related to chemical substances is placed on industry. Likewise, industry is held responsible for the provision of appropriate safety information to users. The impact of the Regulation extends to the entire supply chain. A close cooperation and communication with suppliers and customers is mandatory.
PFERD has examined this Regulation very thoroughly. Needless to say, we shall meet and constructively implement all obligations ensuing from this instrument. For all REACH-related issues, Dr. Birgit Franken has been appointed the central contact in our company (e-mail: birgit.franken@pferd.com). Please do not hesitate to get in touch for any advice you may need!
Information from PFERD:
"Under Article 33 of the Regulation, every supplier (manufacturer or importer) of a product which contains any substance from the "REACH candidate list" in a concentration exceeding 0.1 % by weight is required to communicate information accordingly. As a manufacturer of premium tools, we provide information to our customers and have
identified all affected products in the table below. Please note that the list will be continuously expanded and updated.
The development of new products and manufacturing methods and the ongoing improvement of our product portfolio are essential corporate objectives at PFERD. We are therefore committed to finding solutions as quickly as possible to be able to eliminate the listed substances in the production of PFERD tools in the future.
